Oh Yes, We Have WIFI
“Beautiful lodging out in the bush. So much fun sitting around the campfire and having a Sundowner. The chef goes above and beyond cooking such nice meals. Hot water, great wifi, escorts with flashlights and super nice work staff. You can’t go wrong staying here!”
While a safari is the perfect opportunity to disconnect from the hustle of everyday life, we know that many travelers still appreciate staying connected.
Whether it's sharing a lion photo with family, checking in with loved ones, or even working remotely, our solar powered WIFI is there when you need it.
Powered by the Sun
All three Moyo Tented Camp locations are powered primarily by solar energy. Using clean, renewable energy allows us to reduce emissions, minimize noise pollution, and lessen our reliance on fossil fuels while delivering the comfort guests expect from a luxury Serengeti safari lodge.
Solar power is a natural fit for Tanzania's abundant sunshine. Rather than relying solely on traditional generators, our camps capture this renewable resource to provide electricity throughout the day and night (24 hr electricity).
Of course, nature can sometimes be unpredictable. That's why each camp is also equipped with generator backup systems, ensuring power remains available whenever it's needed so your safari experience continues uninterrupted.
Reliable Electricity Creates Comfort
Many travelers are surprised by just how comfortable a remote safari can be. Our electrical system supports the conveniences that make your stay relaxing and enjoyable, including lighting, charging stations, hot showers, refrigeration, and Wi-Fi throughout your safari.
Whether you're charging your camera, powering your phone, or simply unwinding in your tent after dinner, reliable electricity means you can enjoy the best of both worlds: authentic wilderness and modern comfort.
WiFi in The Middle of The Serengeti
Moyo Tented Camp partners with an experienced internet provider that specializes in delivering connectivity to remote destinations like the Serengeti. While internet speeds can occasionally fluctuate due to weather or the camp's remote location, our provider responds quickly to restore service whenever needed.
For most guests, the Wi-Fi is more than sufficient for staying in touch with family, uploading safari photos, checking travel plans, or catching up on work emails.
Can You Work Remotely from the Serengeti?
Absolutely.
As slow travel and digital nomad lifestyles continue to grow in popularity, more travelers are extending their stays and blending work with adventure. Instead of squeezing a safari into a few vacation days, many guests are choosing to spend longer immersed in nature while remaining connected to work when necessary.
Moyo's Wi-Fi is generally reliable enough for checking emails, attending online meetings, and managing day-to-day business. The strongest and most stable connection is typically available in the main lounge and common areas. So that is usually where people take Zoom calls if needed.
While we always encourage guests to put their laptops away and fully experience the magic of the Serengeti, it's reassuring to know that staying connected is an option. For digital nomads, entrepreneurs, and remote professionals, this flexibility can transform a traditional safari into a longer, more immersive escape.
A Few Tips Before You Pack
Because our camps operate primarily on solar energy, there's no need to bring heavy electrical transformers or high-powered appliances (to our camp at least).
Items such as hair dryers and other high-wattage devices consume significantly more electricity than our solar powered system is designed to support and therefore aren't permitted. Fortunately, everything else you need for a comfortable stay - from charging phones and cameras to powering laptops - is readily available.
At Moyo Tented Camp, luxury and sustainability go hand in hand. By investing in high quality renewable solar energy, reliable connectivity, and environmentally responsible infrastructure, we're creating a safari experience that's both comfortable and conscious. It's one more way we're committed to responsible tourism.
